Why Your World! exists

I moved to South Africa from the UK at 18 and was drawn straight into community-based HIV awareness work. I trained in HIV counselling through UNISA, and spent years learning — up close — what happens when young people don’t have accurate information or anywhere safe to ask questions.

Later, I spent five years building a school’s drama and music programme, and teaching Life Orientation. It was there I saw how differently young people show up when they’re learning through creativity — more open, more honest, more willing to ask the hard questions.

In an area where teenage pregnancy, gender-based violence and misinformation about sexual health are daily realities, Your World! is where those two decades came together: community upliftment and performing arts, in service of one goal — young people who have the facts, and the confidence to use them.

What We Bring to the Classroom

Three core workshops, CAPS and CSE-aligned, delivered through drama, music, dance, role-play and storytelling — for Grades 4 to 12.
