About Your World!

At Your World! we imagine a South Africa where every young person feels confident, capable and supported as they grow — in their relationships, in their choices and in shaping their own future.

Using the CAPS (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement) and CSE (Comprehensive Sexuality Education) curriculums as our foundation, we go beyond the classroom to create safe and welcoming spaces, where young people can explore who they are, understand their rights and build healthy relationships.

We believe learning should inspire, so we use the Performing Arts to make it real, relatable and memorable and by doing so we help young people turn knowledge into everyday confidence and action.

It’s what we do!

Discover

Discover Your World! and the world of those around you in a safe, fun and engaging environment.

Create

Through the Performing Arts we encourage children to unlock their full potential and have the confidence to find out more.

Empower

We empower the youth of South Africa and give them the information, tools and confidence to continue learning.

Your Body & You

We give children an age appropriate and educational understanding of Sex Education. This is an important part of their Life Skills and Life Orientation programme and we follow the SA.Gov guidelines when it comes to CSE. We make lessons fun, easy to understand and we always have the children’s best interests at heart. Listed below are some of the topics covered in our workshops.

Grade 4 – 6: Body Image. Relationships. HIV/AIDS. Culture, Society and Sexuality. Gender Stereotyping and Equality. Sexism, Abuse and Bias.

Grade 7 – 9: Puberty. Relationships. Sex and Safe Sex. STI’s, HIV and AIDS. The Art of Saying NO. Contraception. Consent.

Grade 10 – 12: Gender Equality and Healthy Relationships. Sexual Interest. Consent and Rape. STI’s.

Development of self is a big topic because what is more important in a young person’s life than figuring out who they are and how they fit into this world? We help young people understand and navigate their way through some of the most difficult years of their lives whilst giving them the confidence to ask more questions and understand their own personal world.

Here are some of the topics we cover in our workshops:

Grade 4 – 6: Respect for Myself and Others. Emotions. Bullying. Peer Pressure. GBV. Child Abuse. Responding to Negative Behaviours.

Grade 7 – 9: Setting Goals and Your Potential. Acceptance and Appreciation of Self and Others. Communication.

Grade 10 – 12: Self Confidence. Changing Life Roles and Goals. Our Choices and Decisions. Healthy Relationships. Our Rights. A Balanced Lifestyle.

    How we use Performing Arts

Allowing young people to be creative while learning is proven to help them take in more information. Here at Your World! we are passionate about using Drama, Music and Dance to enhance their learning experience! Take a look at some of the ways we do this.

    MUSIC

Song writing, rhythm work, audio understanding, percussion and everything in between – music opens pathways in the brain. This not only helps children remember information but it also assists their development of ideas and understanding of a topic.

    DRAMA

Games, improvisation, set scenes, character building, play writing and so much more – drama is the perfect accompaniment for an interactive workshop. It allows young people to explore different scenarios and problems while still having fun!

    DANCE

Discovery, reflection, team work and a deeper understanding of those around you, are just a few of the benefits movement has when partnered with our core topics. The way your body moves in certain situations can uncover so much!
